
RAFTING
The Hiwassee River is 5.5 miles of Class I and II whitewater.
Hiwassee Outfitters has the largest fleet on the river including rafts, inflatable kayaks, sit on top kayaks and tubes.
There are no age restrictions except for tubes (Ages 12 & Up)

* Things you Should Know about Rafting the Hiwassee *
The price includes Shuttle, Lifejacket, and Paddle rental
Sales tax is not included in the price (9.25 % in TN)
Reservations are highly recommended on weekends and holidays
Each person will have to sign a waiver of liability located at the bottom of this page
Private boat shuttles are available for $10-20 dollars depending on the boat size
The trip is self-guided
Trip takes about 2-4 hours depending on the size & shape of the boat taken
You will be taken upstream 6 miles and will float back to your vehicles at the facility
Water temperature is cold at around 54 degrees Fahrenheit
Some type of shoes should be worn other than flip flops because the river has very sharp rocks
You will get wet! We are not responsible for lost items or damaged electronics
Coolers can be brought except Styrofoam
Three things that are prohibited on the river: Glass, Styrofoam, and alcohol
While riding the shuttle, stay seated and keep all body parts inside the truck
Life jackets must be worn at all times while on the river
While rafting, stay in the middle channel of the river and go left of all the major islands
The first bridge you will come to is the end of the trip and you will exit on the left side of the river
Restrooms and showers are available to you before and after the trip
If any trouble erupts while on the river, there is a road during the first half of the trip on the right side of the river. Also, there is a railroad track that is on the left side of the river the whole way down and would consist of around a 5 mile walk back to our facility. Please make sure that if you leave the boat behind that it is pulled up on land and will not float away.
